Holter test
A Holter Test (also known as Holter Monitor or Ambulatory ECG) is a 24-hour to 48-hour continuous monitoring of the electrical activity of the heart. It is a non-invasive test used to assess the heart’s rhythm and detect irregularities that may not show up during a standard ECG.
Advantages of a Holter Test:
- Continuous monitoring: Provides a complete picture of your heart’s activity over a longer period (24–48 hours).
- Non-invasive: The test is painless and doesn’t require any surgery or needles.
- Detects intermittent issues: Can detect issues that may occur sporadically or during certain activities, which may not show up in a short-term test.
- Real-life conditions: Allows the doctor to assess how the heart behaves during normal daily activities (like walking, exercising, or resting).
