Orthopaedics (or Orthopedics) is the branch of medicine that deals with the musculoskeletal system—which includes bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and spine. Orthopaedic doctors (orthopaedic surgeons) treat injuries, deformities, and diseases that affect movement and support in the body.

Common Conditions Treated in Orthopaedics:

  • Fractures and Dislocations
  • Arthritis (especially Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis)
  • Back and Neck pain (Disc problems, Sciatica)
  • Sports injuries (like ACL tears, meniscus injuries)
  • Bone infections (Osteomyelitis)
