Paediatric Surgery

Paediatric Surgery is a specialized branch of surgery that deals with surgical care of infants, children, and adolescents. These patients aren’t just "small adults"—they have unique anatomy, physiology, and emotional needs, so paediatric surgeons are specially trained to handle these differences.

Common areas of Paediatric Surgery:

  • Congenital Anomalies – like cleft lip/palate, congenital diaphragmatic hernia, or imperforate anus
  • Neonatal Surgery – surgery on newborns with birth defects or life-threatening conditions
  • Paediatric Tumors – like Wilms’ tumor (kidney), neuroblastoma, or testicular/ovarian masses
  • Abdominal Surgeries – appendectomy, hernia repair, pyloric stenosis, etc.
  • Urologic Procedures – hypospadias repair, undescended testicles, etc.
  • Thoracic Surgery – lung and chest wall conditions
  • Emergency Surgeries – for Trauma, bstructions, or infections
